<in>15 The Grove Clapham Common London S.W. Nov 22nd My dear Father Gezelle I am afraid that I must seem very forgetful of my promise of writing to you, but in reality I am not as bad as I seem for I did really write to you just after the visit of Mr Vercruysse and his daughter, but where the letter went to I could not tell, and I looked for it high and low. However I took up a book the other day which I had not used for some time past and there I found it, so I was then quite convinced that I had not posted it. There have been grand doings at Tooting for the last three days, and I was there last night and this morning, and after High Mass I saw Louis Vercruysse who wished very much to come out with me to spend the afternoon with us, so I asked permission for him and it was granted. I sent him back in time for Benediction and Franchie and Miss Louisa Rooney (the lady who went to Tooting with us) walked back with him. so I suppose that his parents would not object to his evening out I asked him if he had heard from you but he says that he has not heard from you for a month or so. I hope that you are well and no longer feel the effects of your walks in London I had news of the birth of my second grandchild who was born in Wellington in New Zealand on the 5th of October. She is called 'Helena' after your humble servant so I am quite proud But that you will say is nothing new I have also had news of John and Bernard and I have written to Bernard telling him of your visit here and your promise of writing and sending your photo to both of us When you do write to Bernie you must send it to John Weale Thargomindah Queensland Australia as Bernie will probably be moving about with 'sheep'. for that I believe is what he is taking up now. I am very sorry for the poor boy, as he is unfortunate and does not get on at all I shall be so very grateful if you would write to him and get him to write to you. And be sure and write to me also and do not forget your photo And please send me Mr Verriest's address Mr Weale is still at home. I wish that he could go away for some time. it would do him so much good Ethel was very pleased to hear that you had come over and that {&lt;-y&gt;&lt;+we&gt;} had seen &lt;+a&gt; good deal of you. I trust that it will not be the last time, and please remember that I can give you a bedroom when you come alone Franchie is going to study so as to pass her examination as a Chemist and I really think that she will persevere she thinks also of becoming a Doctor in years to come but I don't know if that will really come to pass. I dont know what to do with Maggie, but she ought to be doing something for herself. If by any chance you hear of a Convent wanting an English teacher you might think of Maggie I say a Convent because I should not like her to be out in the World without someone to look after her, for she is still a great child We all send you our most affectionate remembrances. Please remember me kindly to Mr &amp; Mrs Vercruysse and believe me to be ever yours faithfully PS. I dont know your exact address so send it when you write, and write soon please Helena Weale</in>

                <p>I am afraid that I must seem very forgetful of my promise of writing to you, but in reality I am not as bad as I seem for I did really write to you just after the <name type="gebeurtenis" key="gebeurtenis0095" n="4e Engelandreis">visit</name> of <name type="persoon" key="persoon1991" n="Vercruysse, Victor">M<hi rend="sup">r</hi> Vercruysse</name> and <name type="persoon" key="persoon3108" n="Vercruysse, Maria Theresia">his daughter</name>,<note place="foot">

</note> but where the letter went to I could not tell, and I looked<pb n="p2" type="editor" facs="https://bibmedia.brugge.be/images/gezelle/GGA_7393_01_01v.jpg"/>for it high and low.</p>
<p>However I took up a book the other day which I had not used for some time past and there I found it, so I was then quite convinced that I had not posted it.</p>
<p>There have been grand doings at Tooting for the last three days, and I was there last night and this morning, and after High Mass I saw <name type="persoon" key="persoon1987" n="Vercruysse, Louis">Louis Vercruysse</name>
